Yaiza - 25.03.2008 - Judges at the region's High Court have upheld a complaint by the Cesar Manrique Foundation against the planning permission granted by Yaiza town hall for the 660-bed hotel, which is one of the most luxurious in the Canaries. The Foundation has long insisted that the council cut corners by granting permission for several hotels despite the restrictions imposed by the island's main planning instrument, the PIOT. The ruling could force the demolition of the hotel and a massive compensation pay-out to the owners.
